This historic photo looks to bring summer vibes during the last week of January.

Taken somewhere on Okanagan Lake, before 1965, this boat was owned by George Sutherland and called the “Tarpin”.

According to Bruce Glenda, the Tarpin was built in Vancouver by the Boeing company Canadian Division. Design for speed it was originally powered by a marinized Hispano Suiza V8 airplane engine. After that, it was converted to a Lincoln V-12. It sank off Carr’s Landing in deep water supposedly in the 1960s.

The photo was posted to Old Kelowna by Don Burnett.
