This historic photo is of the 1976 inner tube races held at Westbank’s Last Mountain Ski Resort.

According to the Facebook page Old Kelowna, the resort opened on Dec. 6, 1967 by Pat and Allan McLeod under the name of Last Mountain Ski Resort.

In the first year of operation, the resort sold 150 family ski passes.

The resort later sold to John Barlee and his business partner Frank Jobes in 1974, who purchased the hill from the Mcleods. Then in 1992 it was sold to the Tschanz family from Lenzerheide, Switzerland, and the company name was changed to Crystal Mountain Resorts Ltd.

Crystal Mountain is now hoping to reopen this December under the name Bull Mountain Adventure Park.
