A Summerland family was featured on three episodes of Family Feud Canada earlier this month.

The Heigh family, consisting of Shannon and Ron, their daughters Karis and Sydney and Sydney’s boyfriend Jordan Bourbeau, were in three episodes of the game show. The episodes aired on CBC from Dec. 5 to 7.

The show puts two families against each other to name the most popular answers to surveys.

Shannon Heigh submitted an application video before being selected for the show. Then, once they were selected, the family participated in filming in Toronto.

“It was the best experience our family ever had,” she said.

She added that being a contestant on the game show is more challenging than watching it at home.

“It’s so easy when you’re on your couch,” she said.

Filming for each half-hour segment took around an hour and a half, said Ron. He added that the pace of the show is much faster than the pace for the contestants.

“When the bell dings, the answers are not that fast,” he said.

In each episode, a family has the opportunity to win up to $10,000 per episode, provided they win the Fast Money prize at the end. Otherwise, they receive $5 per point. Family members must be 18 or older and can be on the show no longer than three days.

The Heigh family finished with close to $12,000 in winnings.

The show is hosted by actor and comedian Gerry Dee. It is now in its fifth season.

While the Heigh family’s time on the show is over, Ron Heigh said they are continuing to keep in touch with the other families who participated during their episodes.
