Tuning into the record collection community of Kelowna

Kelowna record collector organizes upcoming record sale event June 22 at Rutland Community Hall
Tim Reimers with some of his array of vinyl record albums.

My passion for vinyl began when he was a teenager and continues to this day.

Over the years, I have collected 6000+ records in my vinyl collection journey and that number continues to grow every week.

I started off selling lots of different items at the flea market with only one box of records.

Once I sold that box, I bought a second and then another box. Before I knew it, I had over 20 boxes of records I was selling each week.

Now I’m happy to say it’s my full-time job. Every week I’m buying a new collection and bringing it to the weekly flea market at Centennial Hall in Rutland.

I love my job and wouldn’t change it for anything

It’s always interesting what has value these days and what doesn’t.

Normally the older something is the more valuable it is, but this isn’t always the case with records.

A lot of older country and polka don't have much value while rock'n roll and metal music are highly sought after as good quality records have a high value.

The favourite part of my job is travelling to new record collection sales and getting to meet new people each week.

It’s such a cool community with everyone really supportive of each other. I’m really blessed to be part of it.

Just this past week saw the opportunity for me to travel to Chilliwack and buy two different album collections.

So my love for records has also led me to run this year's Largest Record Show in Kelowna,  with more than 60+ tables of vendors selling records, CDs, music memorabilia and so much more.

The vendors are coming from Vancouver to Calgary featuring some never before seen vinyl collections – there’s bound to be something there for everyone

The record show takes place Saturday, June 22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Rutland Centennial Hall, 215 Shepherd Rd.

Admission is $5.
