An NHL prospect who most recently played in the NCAA is coming to Penticton.
Michael Fisher, a third-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2022, has signed with the Penticton Vees for the 2024-2025 campaign, the team announced.
The Westborough, Mass. product, 20, will come to the South Okanagan after spending last season at Northeastern University in the NCAA.
“Whenever you can add a top-three-round NHL draft pick with NCAA experience you know you are very fortunate,” said Fred Harbinson, the Vees' head coach, general manager and president.
“Michael has all the makings of an elite defenceman and will be counted on in all situations.”
According to the Vees, Fisher will rejoin Northeastern University after his time in the BCHL has come to an end.
The 6'3", 195-pound defenceman played in 30 games last season in Massachusetts.
“I’m excited to have an opportunity to contribute to an organization with such a rich history," Fisher said. "I can’t wait to get to Penticton and be part of a group looking to build off the success of this past season."
