A Kelowna home builder was a standout winner at the 2024 Okanagan Housing Awards of Excellence on Mar. 2.
Fawdry Homes took four awards including Excellence in Certified Home - Custom, and three for Excellence in Single Family Detached Home in several price categories.
The Canadian Home Builders Association of the Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO) presented the 31st anniversary of the awards.
“These awards celebrate the innovative and sustainable housing solutions that are shaping our region,” said Krista Paine, CHBA-CO president. “This is a moment to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our members, recognizing their positive impact on the Okanagan’s economy, environment, and overall quality of life.”
One of the highlights of the night was the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award to Charles ‘Chuck’ Cullen. He has more than 33 years of experience in the local residential construction industry and was honoured by his peers with a tribute video and a standing ovation.
“I have been given the opportunity to pass on any knowledge that I have attained in this career to the project coordinators I have worked with, the apprentices, and the young people who wish to be apprentices in the hopes that this knowledge will perpetuate our industry for years to come,” Cullen said.
“I want to dedicate this award, and this moment to not only those who came before me but also to those who are coming after me.”
This year saw a record-breaking number of entries which were considered by a panel of 22 judges in home building, renovation, and interior design from across Canada.
The complete list of winners is available on the CHBA-CO website.
