A new phone app has been launched by the Okanagan Forest Task Force.
The group of volunteers organizes backcountry clean-ups and advocates for better stewardship of the land.
The new app will allow everyone, regardless of cell service, to report areas that need attention.
OFTF President Kane Blake said the app will automatically drop a pin on the GPS coordinates where the report was made. Users can also add photos of the garbage. If the user is out of cell range, the report will be sent once the phone is back in range.
The OFTF app is available now in the Apple app store. The Android version is still in the trial stage and should be launched in the coming weeks.
