Two drivers are facing the consequences for reckless driving after being stopped by police near Sicamous.
On May 5, Sicamous RCMP noticed an eastbound SUV travelling well above the posted speed limit of 100 km/h on Highway 1 near Malakwa. The radar unit clocked the speed at 147 km/h, and the driver was issued a $368 ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On May 10 at 11:30 p.m. a driver’s past caught up to them. An an officer was driving a fully marked police vehicle on Highway 1 near Malakwa Loop Road when a pickup truck passed his vehicle. The officer also observed the driver of the truck swerving in his lane and conducted a traffic stop noting “the driver was to be served a five month driving prohibition for previous driving infractions,” Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a May 14 media release.
