Two-vehicle crash slows traffic north of Vernon

Incident happens before 5 p.m. in merge lane on 27th Street at Highway 97, north end of overpass

Northbound traffic was slowed to a crawl late Friday afternoon in Vernon.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision at the north end of town on the Highway 97 overpass shortly before 5 p.m.

The incident happened in the merge lane onto the highway from 27th Street, sending one vehicle into the ditch.

Two people were treated at the scene by emergency personnel, including one who was extricated from the vehicle off the road.

A third person declined treatment at the scene.

Northbound traffic onto Highway 97 was backed up toward the Village Green Centre for a period of time.

Emergency personnel stayed on-scene to conduct traffic control.
