The City of West Kelowna crews are performing water main flushing in the Lakeview-Rose Valley system over the next few weeks.

The work is part of the annual flushing program, with the flushing starting on Thursday, Oct. 1 in the Stevens Road and West Kelowna Business Park area.

Areas that can expect flushing will include the following:

  • Boucherie Centre, including Ross, Brentwood and Ponderosa roads and surrounding areas
  • Mount Boucherie Secondary and Hudson Road Elementary
  • West Kelowna city hall, Jim Lind Arena and Royal LePage Place
  • Lakeview Heights

There will be signage in areas where water mains are being flushed.

The city said as flushing involves running water at a high velocity to remove accumulated sediment from the pipe, users may see discoloration after flushing is completed in their area. Residents are advised to run their cold tap water for 20 minutes or until the water runs clear.

A water quality advisory for the Lakeview-Rose Valley system is still in place due to high turbidity in the Rose Valley Reservoir.

Should you have further issues, you can call the city’s utility department at 778-797-2246.
