Rent increase notices can be served now to tenants of the Westbank First Nation (WFN).

The WFN council has rescinded the resolution related to landlord and tenant relief following the easing of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Now, rent notices can be served but enforcement of rent increases cannot occur.

Other measures include:

  • A notice to end a residential tenancy can be issued except for non-payment or late payment of rent or utilities, or non-payment of an issued monetary order;
  • Landlords may apply to the Residential Premises Administrator (RPA) to end a tenancy earlier than 30 days if it would be unreasonable or unfair to the landlord/other occupants to wait, or where necessary to protect health and safety, or to prevent undue damage to the property.

WFN council and staff continue to monitor the current pandemic situation as it relates to tenancy matters.
