NAKA: ALICE NORIYO (NEE NISHI)
July 16, 1939 - May 2, 2013
Alice went to be with her Lord
and Savior at the age of 73.
She passed away peacefully at
the Kelowna Hospice House
after living with Alzheimer's
for many years and a brief
battle with cancer. Alice was
born in Ocean Falls in 1939.
She moved with her parents
and brother to Kelowna in 1941.
Alice attended school in Rutland and graduated from Rutland Senior Secondary. She then went on to work for 15 years at McLean and Fitzpatrick Ltd which was a fruit and vegetable packinghouse in Kelowna. Alice married Susumu Naka in 1970 and had a son Richard in 1973. The family ran a successful vegetable market
garden from 1970 to recent years and she enjoyed serving and socializing with the customers she met over this time period. Alice loved her family and friends. She was quick
to make light of situations and laugh with them. Alice's kind and generous spirit will be remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her brother Jack Nishi. Alice is survived by her husband Susumu Naka, son Richard Naka and grandson Colten Naka. She also
has many in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her family would like to thank her extended family and friends for all the visits and support. She cherished these moments and she was thankful for each opportunity to spend time with
her loved ones. Thank you to the staff at Central Okanagan Hospice House for the excellent care, kindness and
attention she received.
