GÉBER, ANDRÁS

In sorrow, and with faith in an everlasting life, the family of András Géber Sr., announce his passing on December 26, 2015. András was born in the former Yugoslavia, on November 8, 1919 and died peacefully, at Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 96. András will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth, of Kelowna; their five children: Ferenc (Leona) Geber, Magdi Medic, Adela (George) Vorisek, of Kelowna; Liz Tabur of Houston, Texas and Anna (Tony) Horvat of Gärtringen, Germany; his 10 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren; and his brother Anton (Victoria) of Székelkeve. Predeceased by their daughter, Veronika Greveling-Geber.

A long-time Westbank and Kelowna resident, András

dedicated his life to his devoted family, his faith community and choir, music, working the land as a farmer and vintner, the Hungarian Club, and his many, many friends.

A POW survivor in WWll and the many political upheavals of his country, Andras lived through adventures and trials

before emigrating to Canada, in 1970. Always courageous and tolerant, he was a role model for all who knew him.

Please join us for a Catholic Mass to be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in West Kelowna, B.C. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00am. Interment at the Westbank Cemetery.
