Went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ligia; daughter Maria Alcantara of Peachland and son Vasco Alcantara (Heather) of Toronto. Anibal moved to Calgary in 1964 from Lisbon, Portugal and in 2006 fulfilled his dream of retiring in Kelowna. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Kelowna General Hospital, especially Dr. Fox and Dr. Spiess for their excellent care. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 19th at 7:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. A Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 20th at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC. Interment to follow in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. A Mass will also be celebrated in Calgary at Our Lady of Fatima Church, at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2008.
