January 23, 1922 - March 22, 2022
On March 22, 2022, Anne Sonsie passed away peacefully after a brief illness in Kelowna, BC. Anne was born on January 23, 1922, in the Lac du Bonnet area of Manitoba to Sophie and Peter Romanow. She lived an incredible life. Being the eldest girl of 11 children, she learned responsibility and a strong work ethic which she passed along to her children, Sandra, Robert, and Jacquelynn.
In Manitoba, she owned and operated two small hotels. She moved to West Kelowna, BC in 1982, where she owned and operated a vineyard and orchard. In 1985, she moved to Kelowna, BC. Anne loved to play cards and bowl with friends and family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sharing the bounty of both with her loving family. We sure will miss those family dinners and all that great food. Anne was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, John Jake, in 1976. She was also predeceased by her siblings Andrew, Fredrick, William, Joseph, Daniel, Walter, Edward, and Stephanie, as well as her nephew Patrick who was like a son to her. She is survived by her sisters Mary Rogocki and Helen Baumgartner.
Also surviving her are her children Sandra, Robert (Jacqueline) and Jacquelyn (Gary); her grandchildren Tricia, Derek, Dan (Diana), and Alexander (Ramona); and her great-grandchildren Tiffany, Gemma, and Nicolas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Our thanks to the staff at Cottonwoods Driftwood Unit for all their care to mum in her final months.
No service will be held, by request. Cremation has taken place, which will be followed by a private internment to be held at a later date.
