It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Dorothy (Nicholls) Fichter on January 1, 2018.
Barbara was born in Sedley, Saskatchewan to Alfred Ernest Nicholls and Dorothy Nicholls (nee Bleile). Barbara married August Michael Fichter on April 2, 1945 in Kelowna.
Barbara and August had three sons - Brian, Ron and Rick. They also were foster parents to 52 needy children. Barbara and August adopted the first and the last of those children - daughters Deena and Terri. Barbara retired in Kelowna, BC.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband August Michael Fichter, son Ronald Allen, brothers Michael Stanley Nicholls and Kenneth Roy Nicholls.
Barb is survived by her four loving children - Brian (Cathy) of Cloverdale, Rick (Christine) of Lac La Juene, Deena Kress (Michael Robidioux) of Kelowna and Theresa (Terri) Fichter of Kelowna. Barb leaves 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She also leaves surviving her loving brother Ray Nicholls Sr. She will always remain a part of us and in our hearts. We will love her forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Springfield Funeral Home at 2020 Springfield Rd. at a date and time to be determined.

Barbara's entire family wish to sincerely thank all the employees and care-givers at Joseph Benjamin and The Village at Mill Creek for their caring and friendship during Barbara's last years.
