MILLER, BARBARA GRACE (NEE BODIE)

Jan17, 1943 - Nov 15, 2009.  Barbara Grace Miller of

Kelowna B.C. passed away on November 15, 2009 at the age of 66 years. Barb is survived by her long time partner of 33 years, Robert van Sprang of Kelowna B.C.; her children, Curtis, Douglas, Jacqueline; brothers, Jim (Jean), Bob (Elaine), Jerry (Brenda); sister, Wendy Schulz (Alf) and son-in-law Eckart Schoenberg.  Barb was predeceased by her daughter Carrie in 2001.  She will be remembered fondly by her dear and special friend Carol Blades (Nolan).  Other survivors include her beloved grandchildren, Stephanie, Laura, Paul, Larissa, Danny, and Levi. She will be missed by Robert’s children; Rodney Carpenter (Trudy), Robert Van Sprang, Darren van Sprang, Kelly Wirchenko (Harry), Jacqueline Carpenter, Robert's brothers; Emile, Cornelus, Roy (Lori), sister, Joanne Potocki (Paul); Robert’s mother, Hendricka van Sprang as well as numerous extended family and many friends. Barb was born and raised in Taber, Alberta, moved her family to Calgary in 1969 where she pursued successful careers with CIBC, and Dome/Amoco Petroleum. In 1990 Barb and Robert left Calgary to become lighthouse keepers on the west coast of B.C. where Barb could really indulge her love of nature, sense of adventure and the challenges this environment offered. In 1996 Robert & Barb settled in Kelowna. Barb had an entrepreneurial spirit and operated her own “Lighthouse Creations” website for a time. She was employed by Winfield Motor Freight, Kelowna and semi-retired in 2006 but continued to seek new interests and challenges. Gathering together with family and friends were special events for Barb. She will be remembered as a kind, caring person, and loyal friend who taught us all the value of remaining close and supporting one another. Her loving nature and amazing strength in dealing with

adversity will be remembered always. The family would like to thank everyone involved in Barb's cancer care and support during the past year; including clinics in Los Angeles, Calgary, Vancouver, and the Southern Interior, as well as the staff from “Southern Interior Home Support and Palliative Care”. A service will be held at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC on Thursday,

November 19, 2009 at 11:00 am. If friends and family so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the
