Bernie went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2008 at the age of 60 following a valiant battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife Sherri Ducholke, son Sean (Joy) Arcand of Edmonton, two grandchildren Tissanna and Logan of Edmonton, two brothers Marcel (Shirley) of Edmonton, AB, Joel (Rhea) of Surrey, BC, sister in law Betty of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by his brother Larry, sister Jeannette, brother in law David Weber, parents Richard & Isabelle. Bernie’s entrepreneurial spirit took him on many adventures through his life’s journey and included farming, bee keeping, a varied career with AGT/Telus and as a business owner of Bernie’s Rental Den in Sherwood Park, AB, for several years. Bernie retired to Kelowna from Edmonton in order to pursue his love for skiing, hiking, sailing, biking and passion for gardening. Bernie will be lovingly remembered for his vibrant energy and humor and his unrelenting attitude in living life to the fullest in spite of his cancer. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff of 4 East, Kelowna General Hospital for the excellent care and kindness. Special thanks to Dr’s. Jim Ketch, Sauciouc, Bak, Ferris and their teams for their tireless efforts. Sherri would like to convey a very special thank you to her workmates and manager from the Rehabilitation Unit at KGH for their numerous, thoughtful acts of kindness during a difficult time. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 4, 2008 at 1:00 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Road, with Pastor Jack McLaughlin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.
