RUTHERFORD, BEVERLEY ANN

(June 15, 1939 - April 04, 2014)

“If there ever comes a day when we can't be together keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever”

With her loving and devoted husband, Gordon by her side Beverly passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus in the early hours of April 04, 2014. Beverley was born and raised in New Westminster, BC where she was very involved in the United Church and eventually trained to become a teacher.  During a time spent in Narmata Christian Leadership Training School, BC she met the love of her life Gordon and they were married on July 1, 1961. Bev and Gordon created a fulfilling life together in Field, BC, where they raised a family and were very involved in the community and outdoor living.  Eventually retiring with Gordon to Kelowna in 1994 Bev thrived on spending time with him, being passionately involved with family, friends, the Winfield United Church community, traveling, reading and expressing her creative flare (quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking …) Bev’s great love of life itself will be warmly remembered by all whom she touched with her bright smile, unique ability to bring people together and organize events as well as her many gifts of kindness, creativity and generosity. Bev, you held our hands for a while and you hold our hearts forever; you were a friend and helping hand to all and will be profoundly missed! Beverley will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Gordon H. Rutherford, daughter Leanna (Ron) Estey, granddaughters, Emmalea, Meara and Aleah, daughter Karen (John) DiMaulo, grandsons Christopher and Matthew, sister Sharon (Ron) Hughes, nephew David (Deb) Hughes, niece Jennifer (Vili) Antic and many dear friends.  Bev was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and John Staples, as well as stepfather Gordon Rice.

"Those we love do not go away, they walk beside us everyday.  Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear."  The family wishes to expressly thank Bev’s GP – Dr. Mark Clark – and the staff of Spring Valley Care Centre for taking such personal and compassionate care of Beverley. A gathering in celebration of Bev's life will take place on Saturday, May 03rd, 2014 at 2:00pm in Winfield at the Winfield United Church (3751 Woodsdale Road, Lake Country, BC.) In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Bev's name can be made to a charity of your choice or the Alzheimer Society of B.C. 300-828 West 8th Avenue Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 1E2 (www.alzheimerbc.org), which is greatly appreciated. Cremation arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services, (250) 860-6440.
