Chuck Fagan passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was born on December 26, 1932 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, son to Charles and Mary Fagan. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Gretta and their three children: Stephen (Loree), Christopher (Sheila) and Allyson (Scott); and 6 grandchildren: Veronika, Wyatt, Jacqueline, Ava, Grayson and Lucy, all of Kelowna.

Chuck was the second oldest of 10 siblings and will be deeply missed by sisters Veronica (Murray), Agnes, Theresa (Etienne), Helena (Doug), John (Shirley), Frank, Joe (Jean), sister-in-law Frances and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck was predeceased by brothers Gerard and Tom.

Chuck will be remembered for his terrific sense of humour, his gentle demeanor, his generosity and his deep devotion to his family, friends and community.

A longtime resident of Kelowna, Chuck was a teacher at Kelowna Secondary School and Rutland Senior Secondary School for 26 years. He enjoyed being a teacher and was well liked by his colleagues and his students.

Chuck served on the Board of Directors of the Share Society and volunteered in the community, coaching his kids in Kelowna Minor Hockey and soccer.

Physically active all his life, Chuck loved to play tennis and badminton and was a member of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club and the Four Seasons Racquet Club. Setting a great example with his love of sport, he spent countless hours on the side of the soccer field in support of his kids.

In retirement, 'Poppa' Chuck enjoyed traveling, especially RVing with Gretta. He was an avid reader and enjoyed his newspaper and his countless history books.

Chuck was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Gretta and family are especially grateful to the staff at Brookhaven Care Centre, McIntosh Unit, for their wonderful care over the past two years.

A Celebration of Chuck's life and memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering following the Memorial.

In respecting Chuck's wishes, a cremation has taken place and an interment will be at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery at a future date.
