HOWARD, CLYDE JAMES

Father, teacher, coach,

mentor, friend, the crotchety old guy barking over the fence at you for not wearing a bicycle helmet. Clyde took

his coaching to a whole new level on April 30th. He will be remembered. Born in Vancouver and raised in Kitimat, Clyde studied at UVIC and took a teaching position with School District

23 at the tender age of 20.  He taught Social Studies and P.E. and the leadership program with passion.

His passion extended to coaching several sports.

His fondest memory as a coach was being able to coach his daughter Chynna in high school and winning a

provincial club championship with her.  Although Clyde will mostly be remembered as Coach Howard or Captain Canada his proudest title comes from Chynna:

“The Best Dad In The World.” Predeceased by his parents Bob and Violet, Clyde is survived by his daughter Chynna and four sisters, Melanie, Jay, Nadine and Sherri.  A Celebration of Clyde’s Life will be held on Canada Day

at his home.  Details will be announced at a later date.
