PEACE, DON

On August 22nd a very, very

nice man went home after a short, but very painful battle with cancer. Don Peace was just shy of his 78th birthday. Don was born in Calgary on August 27th, 1935. He is

survived by his loving wife Verna just short of 55 years. Don was predeceased by his parents Basil and Mabel Peace, of Beaverlodge, AB. Don has a surviving brother Brian (Melba), 4 children Dwayne (Jacqueline), Bob (Wendy), Diane (Ted) and Dan (Helen) and 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins

& uncle.

Don was involved in highway trucking all his life. He started at the age of 5 when he made himself a little wooden truck that went up and down the dirt roads that he had carved out in his backyard. Don trucked for some of the largest trucking firms in Canada and travelled West to East, the Alaska Highway and into the U.S. His last main trucking company that he worked for was Berry & Smith out of Penticton. Don retired from the trucking business in 2004 after open heart surgery.

There will be a drop in Celebration of Life at his daughter and son-in-laws home on Saturday, August 31st at 1:00 - 5:00, 11027 Eva Road, Lake Country, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kelowna SPCA.
