Born June 25, 1944, passed away August 7, 2008 quietly after a very courageous battle with cancer. She celebrated her 64th birthday on June 25th with family and friends at her side at the Douglas Fir unit of the Cottonwoods Palliative Care Centre. She leaves to mourn the loss of her, daughter Lisa (Les) Weekes of Redcliff, AB, son Edward and fiance (Avril) of Kelowna, and her two precious grandsons, Lleyton and Evan Weekes. She is also survived by brothers Les, Clarence, Doug, Raymond and sisters Faye and Ruth, and their respective families. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna was predeceased by her loving husband Fred, sisters Dorothy, June and Ruby, and brothers Ross and Bill. Memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 10:00 am. Special thank you to the palliative care nurses and aids in the Douglas Fir Hospice Unit, the support groups and medical team at the Kelowna Cancer Clinic, and especially Dr. Gillian Fyles, who looked after her with such care and dignity. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cottonwoods Palliative Care Centre Douglas Fir Unit. A gift in living memory of Donna will be made to Hospice Care by Springfield Funeral Home.
