Dorothea Dot Tulman (nee Milner)

May 1, 1924 – April 18, 2017

Dot went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2017 at the age of 92. Born in Edenwald SK to parents Adolph and Martha, Dot grew up on the dairy farm with her brothers and sisters. They moved to Regina SK and then Swan River MB where she married Reynold “Ray” Tulman in 1947 and moved to Winnipeg to start a family. They had three children: Terry, Curtis and Valerie, moved to Dauphin MB in 1960 and then Williams Lake BC in 1964 where Ray worked as a heavy duty mechanic and Dot began a career as a court reporter.

They retired at Little White Lake near Salmon Arm BC. Ray passed away in 1992 and Dot continued to live there until moving to Kelowna in 2004 to be closer to her grandchildren. She spent the last years of her life in retirement homes and died peacefully in the early hours of April 18, 2017 with her daughter Valerie at her bedside.

Dot was an amazing cook and hostess with the ability to make any visitor feel completely at home. She sacrificed much for her children and absolutely doted over her grandchildren. She was self-taught on the piano and had the most beautiful singing voice. She loved nature, hummingbirds, wild flowers, chocolate, black coffee, banana cream pie, angel food cake and a good laugh. Dot had a deep faith in God which carried her through the trying times of life such as the loss of a husband (Ray), a son (Terry) and a grandson (Lukas).

She is survived by son Curtis (Leslie) Tulman, daughter Valerie (Ken) Read and grandchildren Jesse and Alanna Tulman. Also survived by brother Lawrence  Milner and sisters Theo Harris, Ellie Loewen and Winnie Kelm.

Dot will be missed and lovingly remembered by a host of family and friends. Special thanks to the caring staff at Village at Mill Creek Baptist housing.

A memorial and reception will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, May 7 in the Fireside Room at Willow Park Church, 439 Hwy 33, Kelowna BC.
