On November 26, 2008, our beloved Aunt and friend Dorothy Cooper passed away peacefully in Kelowna. Dorothy was born in Fort Qu’Appelle on May 28, 1926 to Percy and Helena Ormiston. She attended Ormiston School, and completed high school in Fort Qu’Appelle. She married Arthur Cooper on September 4, 1948 and they settled in Fort Qu’Appelle where Dorothy worked in the bank, and then later in Saunder’s store. In the 1965 Dorothy and Art moved first to Alberta, and then later to Cranbrook B.C. where they lived for many years, enjoying camping and fishing with friends and family. Following Art’s death in 1978, Dorothy relocated to Kelowna to be closer to several of her friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Art; her parents Percy and Helena; her brother Lloyd; brothers-in-law: Rick Jolly, Stan Loree and Ray Cooper; her sisters-in-law Edna Jolly and Grace Loree; her nephew Allan Jolly; and her good friend Bob Thorson. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Pat Ormiston; her nieces: Betty Loree and her children Tyler (Sarah) and their children Chance and Emily, Adam and Joel; Audrey Jolly; Gwenda Wilkes (Don) and her children Margie and Rob; Susan Hrysak (Wayne) and her children Robin (Vince), Lisa (Russell) and Evan (Sandra); and Carol Ormiston; as well as her good friend Lylia Thorson and her children Ed, Cindy and Cindy’s children Cody, Tara and Dion – for whom Dorothy was always ‘Aunty Dorfy’. The family would like to thank Lylia Thorson and the staff of Cottonwood Care Centre for the wonderful care Dorothy received. A celebration of Dorothy’s life and interment of cremated remains will take place in Fort Qu’Appelle at a later date. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Arrangements entrusted to Springfield Funeral Home.
