Edwin (Ed) Fredrick Wilcox

August 1, 1929 - October 18, 2017

Ed passed away peacefully at the Spring Valley Care Centre in Kelowna BC on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the age of 88 years.

He will forever be in the hearts of his wife of 62 years, Carol Wilcox and their children: son, Kelly Wilcox and daughter, Erin (Anthony) Tabbernor; as well as his sisters: Helen Hurley, Lois (Syl) Dzus and Denise (Joe) Chernencoff and their families.

In Ed's own words he left the following:  "My name is Ed Wilcox and I was born in Swan Lake, Manitoba on August 1, 1929.  I commenced my Railroading career on July 31, 1945 at Penticton BC as a Hostler's helper with the Canadian Pacific Railway.  I later went to Squamish, British Columbia in the same position at Pacific Great Eastern Railroad which later became the British Columbia Railway.  I was promoted to Locomotive Engineer on Steam in November of 1951 and worked in various locations where my seniority allowed me to hold a job.  I was promoted to General Road Foreman of Engineers in 1968 and retired on August 1, 1986.

The two things that I missed the most in retirement was not being able to attend the Technical Conference and the Steam Engines which I had the pleasure of operating.  I enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and especially sailing."

Keeping with Ed's wishes, cremation has taken place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Crematorium and there will not be a Funeral Service.
