ELIZABETH passed away peacefully January 9th, 2008 in the Kelowna General Hospital. She was born September 4th, 1919 to Leroy and Mabel Rimbey at Rimbey Alberta. She received her education in Rimbey and later graduated from Edmonton University with her teaching certificate. Merle taught school in the Rimbey district, and then moved north to Peace River country where she taught at Whitelaw and Berwyn, Alberta. In 1965 she moved to Kelowna, BC. She taught at the little two room Benvoulin School until it was closed when Springfield Road came through. She went to Matheson School until she retired. Merle married Gordon Tatlow in 1945 and had two sons, Dale who lives in Kelowna, and David who died as an infant. Merle became a Christian early in her life and was always active in her Sunday school and church. She enjoyed her garden, handwork and did volunteer work. She loved her church family and would often give something to every family. Her mission was remembering all birthdays with a card. This made her loved by young and old. She was predeceased by her son David, her brother Durward and his wife Belva, and by her daughter-in-law Heather. She will ever be missed by her son Dale, four grandchildren, her sister Velma and husband Robert Tatlow of Grand Forks, BC. and two nieces and one nephew. Merle also leaves many church friends. Two ladies, who have been especially close to her, Fern Chaffee who has been a life long friend, and Clara Belle Manning along with her family, have all given so much of their time to see Merle’s needs. The family appreciates their kindness and may God Bless you all. ” These ransomed of the Lord, will go home along the road to Zion, singing the songs of everlasting joy. For them all sorrow and all sighing will be gone forever; only joy and gladness will be there”. Isaiah 35:10.
