March 8, 1930 - August 17, 2018
Eric Norman Ascroft, born March 8, 1930, passed away suddenly on August 17, 2018 in Kelowna, BC. Eric is survived by his loving wife Shirley, devoted daughter Elinor, son-in-law Chris Sobon and beloved grandson Kyle, daughter Janice, older brother Gerald and many nieces and nephews.
Eric was born and raised in Victoria and worked in his dad's business, Ascroft Electrical Machinery while attending College. After college he moved to Vancouver to pursue a career in the Investment Industry. This is where he met the love of his life, Shirley.
Eric worked as a bond salesman for Nesbitt Thomson and Richardson Greenshields for many years. He later left the business to pursue his true passion as an entrepreneur in the mining industry where he lovingly embarked on many adventures in the back country searching for gold and silver.
Eric and Shirley moved to Kelowna in 2000 after the birth of their only grandchild Kyle.
Eric loved the outdoors, hiking, walking, boating, camping, fishing, curling, going for coffee with friends, gardening and his greenhouse. He was a jack of all trades and could fix and build anything.
He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed his help.
He cherished his little dog Brandy and took her everywhere he went.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace dad.
