went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Henrietta; daughter Sharon Erickson (Don) of Williams Lake; son Norman Houlind (Doreen) of Merritt; four grandchildren: Caren, Brad, Nicole, Tiffany; five great grandchildren: Braeden, Makinley, Zeke, Issac, Caleb; brother Gordon Houlind (Joyce) of Beaverdell and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and three brothers. Gerner was born in Denmark and came to Canada when he was four. He loved music, fishing and had a fabulous sense of humour. Gerner loved his grandchildren. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends. A celebration of Gerner’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 am at Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC with Pastor Reuben Schmunk officiating. A family interment took place on Friday at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
