Gerrit George passed away on April 17, 2008 at the age of 90. Survived by his loving wife Mary, two daughters: Carol Chrisjohn (Garrison) of New Westminster, BC, Elaine Mason (Richard) of Owen Sound, ON; three sons: Tom (Tess) of Surrey, BC, Bill (Jeanne) of Edmonton, AB, George (Barbara) of Victoria, BC; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters and one brother. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, George served 4 ? years in the Royal Canadian Engineers. Following his army service, he and his wife Mary moved to Vernon, BC where he worked as city assessor from 1947 1978. After more than 30 years with the city, George and Mary retired to a hobby farm in Kelowna where they grew alfalfa and boarded horses. Over the years they enjoyed traveling and spending time at their cabin at Mabel Lake. George was most happy when active in the outdoors. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm at St. Davids Presbyterian Church, 271 Glenmore Road, Kelowna, BC with Reverend Richard Moffat officiating.
