After a brief illness in hospital, in her 80th year, Gisela Maria Walz slipped away during the darkest hours of the morning with her family at her side. Left to miss her deeply are her husband George; her daughters Gabriele Walz-Kellerman (Kevin), Dorothy Abougoush (Gordie) both of Kelowna; sons George Walz (Yvon) of North Vancouver and Alex Walz (Darlene) of Kelowna. Grandchildren Chad, Michelle and Jason Abougoush, Matthew, Mitchell and Curtis Walz, all of Kelowna and Chelsey Walz of North Vancouver will all miss their Oma and treasure their fond memories of her. She was predeceased by her son Martin in 2002 and is survived by her sister Hildegard Sohn of Medicine Hat, her brothers Rudi (Ina) Dangel and Fred (Paula) Dangel of Germany. Born in May of 1928, Gisela immigrated to Canada in 1957 to begin a new life with her young family, creating the childhood memories that we all look back upon with fondness. We will strive to work towards her example of selfless nurturing and caring for others. Early years were spent living in Regina and Swift Current until the family made its home in Kelowna in 1971. Mom loved the simple pleasures of life - flowers and nature, family celebrations and the warmth of the sun on her face. We will miss her greatly. At her request, in lieu of a service, there will be a small family gathering to celebrate her memory. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com - 250-860-7077
