passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11th, 2008 at the Brookhaven Care Centre in Westbank at the age of 95 . Survived by her loving family, Lynn (Cameron) Sims of Kelowna; Jim Jr. (Barb) Hepburn of Calgary; Barbara (Bill) McGee of Edmonton; Barry (Debbie) Hepburn of Stony Plain; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and her special sister Vera (Bob) Alton , numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by an infant daughter; her husband Jim Hepburn, friend Clifford Johnson and eight brothers and sisters. Hazel and Jim lived in Edmonton after the war and retired to Island Lake. She came to Kelowna in 1991 to spend her later retirement years. She loved painting, playing the organ and sewing. She moved to Brookhaven Care center two and a half years ago. Special thanks to Dr. Bernard Lewke, and the wonderful staff at Brookhaven, who took such good care of Mom, of special note is the Brookhaven Eden Program which continues contact with friends, animals, children and companionship and the staff and volunteers who ensure this.
