passed away surrounded by her family after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on May 20, 2008 at the age of 65. Survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Morio; son Derek (Angie) and their children: Riley, Jenna and Emiko; daughter Susan (Larry) and their daughter Molly and soon to be 5th grandchild due in October; her mother Emiko Kakuno; two brothers: Willy (Vickie) Kakuno, John (Janie) Kakuno; three sisters: Olive (Ewald) Stellmach, Doreen (Jim) Campbell and Grace (Brian) Klein. Predeceased by her father Sidney. Clara will be remembered for her love of teaching. Her career spanned 34 years, 32 of which were in SD23. She enjoyed golfing, curling (Where she accomplished an 8 ender!), skiing and bowling, but most important to her was family. A special thank you to Dr. B. Czerkawski, Dr. J. Wilson, Dr. J. Emslie and all the staff at the cancer clinic, health care nurses: Jen, Lorraine and Todd, P.R.T. member Rosary Keogh and all the nurses on 4A at KGH. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 1:00 pm at the Mission Creek Alliance Church, 2091 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
