CRAIG, JAMES WILLIAM

August 22, 1947 - September 14, 2014

It is with deep sadness that we

announce the passing of James (Jim) William Craig, age 67, on September 14th 2014 at his home in West

Kelowna. Surviving are his wife

Shirley (Kellough), his children, son Jason (Melanie Benoit) of San

Francisco and their new son Micah, daughter Christa (Natalie Rai) of Vancouver, sister Gloria Shoaf of Prince Albert SK, brothers-in-law,

sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents Dick and Anne Craig of Saskatoon. Jim was born August 22, 1947 in Regina where he attended public school. He continued his education in North Battleford and went on to the University of Saskatchewan in 1965. Jim met the love of his life and best friend Shirley in Saskatoon. They were married in 1971, raised their children in Saskatoon, and spent 43 happy and fulfilling years together. In December 2009 they moved to West Kelowna to enjoy retirement. Jim began his career in accounting at Federated Co-op in

Saskatoon in 1967 to 1975. He went on to Bird Machine Company of Canada (Andritz) where he worked as the finance manager for 33 years. Jim had a competitive nature and loved to play cards and board games. He enjoyed many different types of music as well as swimming, reading, socializing and travelling. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends. Jim was delighted to

finally become a grandparent on August 20th 2014. His face lit up with joy seeing pictures and videos of Micah. Jim was a gentle and caring soul with a warm personality and a great sense of humor. He showed strength and courage through his long battle with cancer. His ability to stay positive through this journey was admirable and a lesson to all. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. A special thanks to Dr. Wittel and team from the Chelation therapy clinic. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 27th at Sonoma Pines Club House on Sonoma Pines Drive, West Kelowna. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer society.
