Kelowna General Hospital on August 16, 2012 at the
age of 84. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her
four children, Vernon (Helene), Lorraine (Charlie), Carolyn (Barry), and Reg, and grandchildren Angela, Jeremy and Teresa (Alec), and a grandchild, Haley. Jeanne was born
on a farm near Carbon Alberta, on February 21, 1928. She was the oldest of 10 children, and spent much of her early life on the farm nurturing them. She married John Anthony Barnes on June 7, 1949 in Calgary, Alberta. Jeanne worked at various jobs, such as nursing, while raising her family until she and John retired to Kelowna. There she became an
avid gardener, enjoying the plentiful Okanagan produce.
She enjoyed traveling and took many trips exploring North America, the Caribbean, and New Zealand where she
visited her sister Teresa. Jeanne loved to paint, make
crafts, play the fiddle and mandolin, and sang in the choir. She enjoyed many friends and family who came to visit in her home in Kelowna, where she lived for the past 36 years of her life. Prayer Services will be held at St. Mary’s
Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012.
