"When I die, remember that what you knew of me is with you always. What is buried is only the shell of what was. Do not regret the shell but remember the man, remember the father".

Louis L'Amour

Jerry Joseph Polasek has gone home to be with his parents Frank and Helen Polasek after a faithful and fulfilling journey of life. Jerry exemplified integrity in every part of his life which he demonstrated daily in his devotion to God.

An undisputable love story began when Jerry met Carol his wife and best friend for 58 years and their marriage embodied commitment and became a shining example for everyone. Jerry and Carol were blessed with four daughters and Jerry, through example, demonstrated how to lead a full and honourable life and he also showed his girls how men should treat women.

"Gramps" will be forever missed by his girls Christie (Eric), Niki, Shannon (Maurice), Robyn. His most cherished grandkids, Court, Brett (Kyla), Christopher, Cody, Lauren, Josh, Taylor (Carson), Daniel, Jordan, Joseph, Isaiah. Rion and Mya his great granddaughters and Rene.

The other girls in Jerry's life who meant so much are his three sisters Anita (Fred), Maddie (Harris) and Noel (Greg).

Jerry's kindness and gentleness was contagious and in true Polasek fashion, he filled any room or gathering with laughter and life, sometimes just his smile or the twinkle in his eye was all that was needed.

Jerry was born on November 8, 1939 in Dysart Saskatchewan. Jerry was provided a career opportunity at the Kelowna General Hospital and moved his young family to the Okanagan Valley. Jerry, through self teaching and with passion, continuously pursued knowledge and new challenges. After 32 years at KGH Jerry retired and began spending time with his many hobbies.

The family would like to thank all of the caring and dedicated staff at David Lloyd Jones care home who treated Jerry and his family as if they were his own making his last months a special time.

Christie, Niki, Shannon and Robyn would like to say thanks to their Mom who has been rock solid in her caring dedication to their Dad especially in the past few years, showing us every day her unconditional love.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on at 11:00 am, on Thursday, February 22, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Ave, Kelowna B.C.
