JOHN Garfield McKinley
1914 - 2009
Our beloved father passed away on Oct. 22nd, 2009
at the age of 95. A man of love, joy, and integrity, he was a positive influence on those whose lives he touched.
His first wife of 40 years (Muriel), predeceased him in 1976. They had four children: Arlene Draper (Arnold), Sharon McKinley Marcia Batula, and Jeff McKinley (Andrea). He and his second wife, Laure, were married for 32 years.
Laure's children and their families became a happy part of his life - Gail Davies, Bob White (deceased), Loretta Copping (deceased), Edmee Rudolph, April White, and Judy Kube. From 1942 to 1974 “Gar” was an inspirational music teacher to thousands of young people in the Oliver and Kelowna School districts. He became Music Supervisor for
School District 23. A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held in March - details to be posted closer to the time.
