died suddenly on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the age of 80. Survived by his loving wife Emma of 43 years, three daughters Peggy Bettermann of Germany, Carla Meier of Ft. McMurray, AB, Claudia Meier of Petawawa, ON, six grandchildren Mark Bettermann, Perry & Carleigh Fotty, Louis, Douglas and Karl Kowalski, four great grandchildren, his brother Robert of Hanover, Germany, and his sister Inge Mazzurama of Sylt, Germany. Karl immigrated Newfoundland in 1953, subsequently moved to Montreal where he met Emma and they married in 1965. Together they moved to Ft. McMurray, AB, working at Syncrude for 10 years, before retiring to Kelowna in 1987. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna.
