Katherine ARTHUR,

Katherine Doris Passed away peacefully on April 2, 2008 at Cottonwoods Care Centre at the age of 90 years. Survived by her loving son Douglas (Anne) of Kelowna and daughter Patricia (Barry) MacDonald of Calgary. Katherine is predeceased by her husband James Arthur orchardist of South Kelowna. She is also predeceased by her sister Ethel Kliewer, brothers Arthur Peterman and Wilbert Peterman. Katherine was born on July 24, 1917 in Kelowna. She went to the old Okanagan School in Benvoulin, high school in Kelowna and later attended Herberts Business College. She worked at the Packing House, B.C. Tree Fruits and at Rutherford Bazett as a secretary. Katherine served with the RCAF as a wireless operator in Gander, Newfoundland during the Second World War Later she volunteered at the Kelowna General Hospital. Moms hobbies were painting, sewing and her beloved garden which she tended to up until last year. Her love of gardening, flowers and birds is reflected in the many photos and pictures that surrounded her in her home. A Memorial Service will be held on April 8, 2008 at 1 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna with Major Les Burrows officiating.
