WEISBECK (NEE FAHLMAN), Kathrine Anne (Kay)


Born in Kroneau, Saskatchewan, September 11, 1917,

passed away peacefully June 2, 2017 at Kelowna General Hospital, Kelowna, B.C.


She was predeceased by her husband John in 1998, and leaves eight children; Kathy (George Ferguson), Wilma (Ed Schell), John (Alli), Marion (John Schell), Richard (Leslie), Tom (Joyce), Gene (Kathy) , and Deborah (Daniel Carney). Eldest brother Hugh died sadly in infancy. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren and

her special friends, Linnie Murza and Julie Wambeke. One of ten children, Kathrine's two sisters, Helen Schaeffer (Summerland) and Patricia Proudfoot (Vancouver) mourn her passing, also several much loved nieces and nephews.


Kathrine with her entire family of 12 moved from Saskatchewan to Kelowna in 1933, where her father bought an orchard in the Belgo area. She married John Weisbeck in 1937, after working for the Rattenbury family at the Royal Anne Hotel. Subsequent to their marriage John and Kay purchased an orchard in East Kelowna where they lived until retirement. Upon the death of her husband in 1997 Kathrine lived at Lakeshore Place and finally to the Village at Mill Creek.


A gardener beyond description, she excelled at bridge, was musically talented, very social, and was an ever faithful member of her Church. She was a CWL member for 75 years.


A Mass of Celebration will be held on June 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Charles Garnier Catholic Church, 3645 Benvoulin Road followed by a reception at Charles Garnier Hall.


Special thanks to the caregivers at Mill Creek Village, and Kelowna General Hospital emergency nurses, esp. Dr. Wile, who were all so outstanding in their compassionate care of our mother. We, the family, are forever grateful.
