GREGOIRE, LAWRENCE VINCENT (LARRY)

Passed away May 30, 2014 at the age of 90 at Sutherland Hills Rest Home in Kelowna, BC.

Larry was born in Thompson, N. Dakota on Nov. 23, 1923, the youngest of three sons of Alfred and Mary Gregoire. The Gregoire family emigrated and homesteaded near Nut Mountain, Sk. in 1925 and raised their family of three boys, later adopting two girls.

Larry served with the Canadian Navy (Merchant Marine) during WW2, and after the war married Vera Bernice Wallin in 1946 at Lintlaw, Sk. They have two children Dennis (1947) and Louise (1948)

They raised their family in Steelman, SK where he worked for Searle Grain and later owned and operated Larry’s Lunch and Grocery.

In 1969, he and Vera moved to Penticton, BC and later to Cawston, BC where he was self-employed as a carpenter. He retired in 1985 and moved to Penticton.

He is survived by his wife, Vera, son, Dennis and daughter, Louise, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

 

He is predeceased by brothers, Edward and Maurice and sisters, Rosanne and Theresa.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9.
