CLANCY, LYDENA JANE (MOORE)

It is with great sadness the family announces the

passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lydena Jane Clancy. Dene was born April 5, 1918 in Stoughton, Sask. She completed public and high school in Stoughton and then moved to Port Arthur, Ontario in 1938 where she found work at the Can Car Foundry and was a riveter (Rosie the Riveter Gals) during the war years. It was there she met and married Melville Rogers Moore, in 1948 with son Douglas and daughter Karen they moved to a new pulp & paper town, Terrace Bay, Ontario. There was no highway to Terrace Bay and at the time everything was brought to the town by railway which bonded all the early families together. In 1952 she lost her husband Mel Moore and later met and married Jim Clancy in 1956. Upon their retirement in 1982 Jim & Lydena moved to Kelowna, B.C. where they resided until Jim’s passing in 2007. Lydena was an honorary member of the

Terrace Bay Curling Club, Royal Canadian Legion and the Ruby Rebecca Lodge. Dene is survived by her son Douglas Moore of Thunder Bay, Ontario, grandsons

Peter and Charles (Kyla) and great granddaughter Carmen; sisters Edna Maitland and Ruby Coombs both of Calgary; brothers-in-law Bill (Elaine) and Don Clancy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John & Margaret McGregor, husbands,

Melville Moore and James Clancy, daughter Karen,

sisters Venus and Madia and by her brothers Roy, Ken and John. A Memorial Service will be held at Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna on Monday, June 1st, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
