Lydia Sohnchen, born in Jawor, Poland on June 3, 1927, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord in her home at Spring Valley Care Centre in Kelowna on March 22, 2018 in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her 2 siblings this past year, Adolf and Carl Ikert.
She is survived by her loving husband Ernst of 64 years, 3 sons Randy (Judy), Dale, Will (Wendy), 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Lydia was known for her gift of hospitality and kindness both in her home and many church activities. She had a real heart for any less fortunate folk that she came in contact with, always reaching out to them and endeavoring to lighten life's burdens for them. She was very much involved in Women's Ministry in whatever church she attended, more recently at Care and Share at Evangel Church.
A special thank you to all the staff of Spring Valley Care Centre who gave such good attention and care to Lydia while she was a resident there. As a family, we are grateful for all that you did for her.
The Memorial Service for Lydia will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be gratefully accepted for Care & Share, Evangel Church.
