UYEDA, MABEL CHIYO (SHIRAI)
October 29, 1919 – November 23, 2013
Passed away on November 23, 2013 at the age of 94. She is
survived by her sister Nobuko (Nobby) Ikesaka of Kelowna;
sisters-in-law Toshiko Shirai of Kelowna and Kay Uyeda of Vancouver; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel was predeceased by her parents Katsunosuke and Kuni Shirai; brothers Jimmy and Isamu Shirai; sisters Eiko Nozak,
Alice Hamanishi, Tomiyo Shirai and Mitsue Shirai;
brothers-in-law Tomiyo Nozaki, Frank Hamanishi, and
Noboru Ikesaka; and husband Bill Toshio-Uyeda
in 2002, after 55 years of marriage.
Special thanks to Mabel’s friends and neighbours for their kindness and support; to the staff of KGH on 4A and the Emergency Room staff; as well as the staff at the Kelowna Hospice House. No Funeral Service by request.
