went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2008 at the age of 86.  Survived by her two sisters: Helen (Nick) of Kelowna, Therese of Burnaby; two sisters-in-law, many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces.  Sadly predeceased by two brothers: Willy and Rudy.  Margarete Ewert was born in Voldenfurst, Russia, on June 19, 1922, the third daughter of Leonhard and Theresie Ewert.  Because of persecution the family fled to Germany in 1934.  After the war they emigrated to Canada, where Margarete pursued a degree in teaching.  She taught for about 30 years, reluctantly retiring due to poor health.  She was much loved by her students and their parents.  Margarete moved to Kelowna in 1991 and was soon an active participant in Willow Park’s Church choir.  She loved the creative arts particularly poetry and music.  The last three years of her life were spent at Golden Way House where she was lovingly cared for by a very attentive staff.  Although Margarete will be missed by her family and friends, we rejoice that she is with Jesus.  A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, with Pastor Mark Burch officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willow Park Church.  A gift in living memory of Margarete will be made to “Hospice Care” by Springfield Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com  250-860-7077.
