She is predeceased by her parents Walter and Dorothy (Robinson) Hubble, brothers, Thomas, George and Dennis Hubble, and sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Margaret Harrison, Joan Bomford, and by her husband Harold Pettman. Marina was born in Greenwich, England on December 30, 1934 into a large family of which she was one of thirteen children. In 1952 she became a qualified Nursery School Teacher. A job posting became available in Canada with an English professional family living in the Laurentians in Quebec of which she applied and was offered the position. In 1954 she said good-bye to her family and sailed from Liverpool to start her new life in Canada. Eventually life brought her to live in Kelowna where her sister, Joan was living. Marina was very active in the community. Her love of music and singing lead her to become involved in musical theatre firstly performing in the old Empress Theater on Bernard Avenue. This is where she met her future husband, Harold Pettman who was active on the committee that spearheaded the fundraising and building of the Kelowna Community Theatre. Their love of acting and Harold's passion for directing led them to establish the "Kelowna Community Theatre Players" which with a dedicated group of actors, singers and dancers produced many of the great musicals of our time. She also helped produce several British Music Hall productions as fundraisers for the Kelowna Symphony in the 70's. Her devotion to God and service within the church was generously expressed at St. Michaels & All Angels Cathedral here in Kelowna where she also loved to participate in the choir, baking goodies and hosting dinners for charity events. Not only here, but in the church Marina and Harold attended when they were 'snowbirds' down in Palm Desert for many years. She began volunteering her time back in the 1960's with the KGH Auxiliary and was recently recognized for her ten years service at the Cancer Clinic at KGH. She was an avid gardener and hosted many a garden tour through the picturesque home property. Marina was a social 'butterfly', beautiful, elegant like the flowers she grew. Whether she was spending time with her family, traveling, volunteering, hosting an event or attending the Okanagan Symphony or Ballet
Kelowna, she always said that she has had the most wonderful life and is thankful to God.
A celebration of Marina's life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 2 pm at St. Michael & All Angels Cathedral.
