Passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis. He is survived by his three sons: Herb (Patti) of North Vancouver, Bruce (Haver) of Calgary, Don (Pat) of Calgary; six grandchildren: Kimberley, Chris, Aaron, Nolan, Tammy, Amanda and one great granddaughter Gracie. Jim was born and raised in Harte, Manitoba. He served in the second World War and married his sweetheart, Phyllis, from Baddeck, Nova Scotia upon his return from overseas. They traveled to Flin Flon, Manitoba where they resided until moving to Westbank, in 1992. He loved to fish and served the United Church for many years. Phyllis and Jim taught folk dancing to kids and lived to square dance at jamborees over Western Canada. Jim was loved by all. Jim and Phyllis enjoyed a 25 year healthy retirement. Thanks to all the staff at Interior Health, Lions Manor, the Village at Smith Creek and Kelowna Hospital. In accordance with Dads wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
