SCHAFFER, Mildred Bertha (nee Fenton )

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, after a lengthy battle with several  health issues. Predeceased by her parents, Norman and Marion Fenton, brother Nelson Fenton, and husband of 32 years, John Schaffer. Mom is survived by;  brother Norman (Lone) Fenton of Castlegar, sister Anita Ek of Summerland,  sons, Wayne (Geri) Bradford of Mission, Don (Joyce) Bradford of Rutland, Jim Bradford of Kelowna,  daughters, Wendy Dunne of Westbank, Sherrie (Dale) Schmidt of Rutland.  12 grandchildren, Wayne Jr. (Candace)Bradford  of Maple Ridge, Kim Harvey (Carson Schmidt)of Mission, Curtis (Laura) Bradford of Maple Ridge, Brandi (Dan)Sheremeto of Westbank,  Josh Goodkey (Angela Eneas) of Westbank, Amanda (Simon) Terry of Rutland, Jesse (Demara) Bradford of Kelowna, Lacy Bradford (Tyler Cameron) of Rutland, Kyle and Kelsey Schmidt of Rutland, Jonathon Schaffer (Zoe Dusting) of Nanaimo, Jason (Magenta) Schaffer of Queensland, Australia ,15 great grandchildren, Makenna (Josh), Jordan, Owen, Quinlyn, Carys, Lila, Gavin, Charlee, Tisyn, Destiny, Isa, William, Coen, Clark and Eddy. Extended family, Glenn Schaffer of Calgary, Larry (Rosemary) Schaffer of Campbell River. and many, many nephews and nieces.

Born in Kelowna, and raised in Westbank, Mom spent all of her life in the Okanagan Valley.  Going to George Pringle High School and living for a time in Summerland, Rutland, West Side Road in Vernon, Kelowna and finally back where it all began in Westbank. During this time Mom (Mildred) worked for over 25 years at Sears making many lifelong friends there.  Mom worked so hard all of her life, but everything she did was for family. You could count on her to be there when you needed a shoulder to cry on, or just to have a good laugh.  Mom and her sister Anita were always there visiting with older family members than themselves, every weekend, giving support when it was needed most.

We miss you so much Mom, but you can rest now, and we will all see you again in a far better place.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joshua and his assistant, Janelle for the very personable and compassionate care they provided for Mom, Thank You so much.

A celebration of life will be held at:  First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, B.C. on August 19, 2017 at 11:00 am. A private family internment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna.  250-762-2299
