Jan 23, 2018
Our mom passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the age of 87.

Born in Calgary and grew up in Blairmore, Alberta Muriel was married to George Wait and they raised four children, Kevin, Heather, Laurie and Darren. In 1973 they moved from Blairmore to Fort Nelson when George was transferred there with West Coast Transmission. While in Fort Nelson, Muriel worked with the Hudson's Bay Company. Once George retired in 1988 they moved to Winfield.

Muriel is predeceased by her husband George, her brothers Ronald Fyfe, Doug Oliver and Ken Oliver. Muriel is survived by her three grandchildren Daniel Stirton, Shawn Wait and Brianna Leader and four great-grandchildren Darian, Kalysten, Dawson and Jamin.

Muriel loved to travel on numerous road trips visiting family in Fort Nelson, Fort St John, Prince George and Cobble Hill, BC. She would often go for an extended stay in each of these places, calling each place home on the road.

Muriel will be remembered for being always cheerful and ready to entertain people, with a large number of friends spread across Alberta and BC. Muriel was involved with the Daughters of the Nile in Kelowna for a number of years and always enjoyed getting together with the ladies.

Muriel loved to knit, do crosswords and word searches. Later in life she had difficulty with eyesight which precluded her doing some of these hobbies. She will be sadly missed by many family members and those who knew her well.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
