CANEVARO, PHYLLIS WANDA

Passed away on October 13, 2013 at the age of 81 years. She is survived by her son Dana (Edie), daughter Renee, sisters Dianne and Florence, her 8 much

loved grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and

nephews. A leader by example, Phyllis lived her life with strength, passion,

intelligence and high principles. Phyllis was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and grew up as a hard working prairie girl. She remained a prairie girl all her life and often happily returned to the old “homestead” and to Dana’s farm for family visits. She married John Canevaro in 1949 in Saskatchewan and that union produced 3 wonderful children. John and Phyllis moved to Kelowna in 1969 and were active residents in Casa Loma for several years. Phyllis possessed a deep interest in history, science, physics, archeology, politics and ancient civilizations. To that end her travels included treks to Mayan ruins in Mexico and Egypt. However, Phyllis’s greatest passion was her family and she dedicated her life to them. She tragically lost her son Wesley in 1976 and her husband John in 1978. Both losses were life changing events. A private family

interment was held for Phyllis at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery on October 18th.
